Moment Of Reflection At Taylor Gill Force

I know! Yet another waterfall but this ones a wee bit special!

This is Taylor Gill Force which you will find on the lower slopes of Base Brown and is on arguably one of the best routes you can take if you are planning on making your way up to Scafell Pike. Much better than following the tourist route everyone else takes!

Strangely enough it is due to the fact that it is on this route that many people just tend to bomb past it on their way up to the stand at the highest point in England. That's the trouble with being a giant in a land of giants!

Within just a few square miles not only do you have the highest mountain in England but also the deepest Lake in England (Wast Water) so the impact of Taylor Gill Force can be somewhat muted especially if it hasn't rained for a while.

Not that that is usually a problem in this area as it is just up the valley from Seathwaite widely known to be the wettest place in England.

However, with a cascade of nearly 140ft making it one of the highest waterfalls in the Lake District Taylor Gill Force is nothing short of spectacular especially after a couple of days of the wet stuff!

So next time your on the way up the Scafells it's well worth stopping and taking a moment just to reflect on it's beauty.
