A Summer Walk Up Tom Gill

The walk up the side of Tom Gill to Tarn Hows is a short but rewarding one especially if like me you have a thing for waterfalls. This lively little gill has a load of them as it it winds it way down the wooded hill side.

Like any waterfall it is best viewed after a few days of rain but just be careful as the path can prove to be a little slippy in some areas for the uninitiated. We quite like to do this on a sunny day as the sunlight filtering through the trees just makes the whole thing that extra bit magical - it wouldn't be a complete surprise if you saw a fairy or two.

Even better is the fact that once you get to the top of the gill you can have a quick wander round the beautifully manicured Tarn Hows then grab yourself an ice cream before finally making your way back down the hill.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon I'm sure you will agree!
