Every now and then when you're out in the hills especially at the time of the year when the sun is a little lower in the sky we get rewarded with spectacular atmospheric light displays that you just don't see in the valleys.  If you were of a religious nature you might even say in these moments it's almost like someone accidentally left the gates of heaven open for a second as the blinding light streams out onto the hillside.

I don't know about you but as an artist these are the moments that make the biggest impression on me - nature in all its spectacular glory showing off for those who put in the effort to get to the places that are a little of the beaten track.

This painting is based on one of those very special moments!
