All's Quiet
There is nothing quite like the majesty of an old stag standing up on the mountain side surveying all it sees below. It is an image that is deeply ingrained in every Scottish persons mind whether they have witnessed it in real life or not. This may have something to do with the fact that it is a stereotypical image that is used on anything from shortbread tins to cushions.
A stag was also the main focus of a painting I done way back in primary school when I was just a young thing dabbling. Although I was reliably informed that that first effort actually remained hung on the wall of the classroom for several years after I left the school I still think the teacher was just being kind.
So it with that in mind it was with more than a little trepidation that I decided to tackle the subject again. This time I wanted to ensure that what I produced was not your stereotypical Scottish scene so I done this by ensuring that the stag provided the focal point for the painting but did not dominate it - I think I succeeded. What do you think?
One thing I do know is that I feel much happier with this painting than I remember feeling about the painting I produced all those years ago at school. 😂🤣
