The weir on the River Wye in Monsal Dale in The White Peak Area of the Derbyshire Peak District is just one of the treats in store for anyone who spends the day walking in the area. The whole area is full of spectacular scenery and quiet little retreats just perfect for getting away from the hustle & bustle of modern life for a few hours.
I first time I visited the area it was Autumn when the leaves in the woodland were a beautiful array of colours and it is a visit I will always remember. This painting is based on the memories I have of that day.
