This is most definitely a painting about light. I don't usually paint sunny days but was interested in the idea of painting an image where the shadows played an important part in the composition so a day with lots of sunshine seemed to fit the bill here.
The secondary focus of this painting was the textures and there are a number of interesting textures that have been explored in the hillside as well as the foreground cottage.
This is one of my favourite paintings as the composition has worked fantastically with the strong shadows really making the painting what it is.
The original watercolour painting is 350mm x 250mm and is available either framed or unframed.
