The view from the top of Side pike at the top end of Langdale is one of my favourite views in the lakes. The top of Side Pike can be accessed via a short steep scramble up the hill side from the top of the pass between Great Langdale and Little Langdale – great fun if you have an hour to kill!
Failing that there is a viewpoint just up from the road that anyone can get to that will afford the viewer an almost equivalent view. I have lost count of the amount of times I have sat and had lunch here and once you have visited it you will see why but don’t forget to keep it to yourself. We don’t want every tourist in Lakeland tramping up there and destroying the peace & quiet.
The original pastel painting is 610mm x 460mm.
