Moortop Village III

This is the third painting to be added to my popular Moortop Villages series.

This series is all about capturing the rugged beauty and character of the buildings & stonework that has been exposed to the elements in the remote moorland villages you find dotted across the U.K.

There are hundreds if not thousands of these tiny little villages across rural Britain. These villages can at times almost appear to grow out of the landscape themselves as they are usually built with local stone and materials that are sympathetic to the landscape and the aged appearance of the exposed stonework and lichen & moss covered roofs just contributes to this impression.

I love doing these type of paintings. The approach is very loose & free and it's all about experimenting with the colour combinations & textures.
