Somewhere In Little Langdale

This was painted in response to a beautiful day spent walking round Little Langdale & Elterwater.
It struck me that day as it has many times before as yet another quad bike flew down the road just how oblivious many of the people who visit the Lake District are to the hard work that is constantly going on around them. Because although the Lake District may be a holiday destination for many it is first & foremost a working environment.
As a border lad who has spent a bit of time speaking to hill farmers I am well aware of just how hard life can be for those who farm in the hills.  They are up early every day out working in all weathers till the sun sets and past in many cases especially when there is new life coming into being around the farm. They never stop!
For many of them it's simply something that they do because they love it.  It is in their blood and they can't imagine doing anything else.  Unfortunately it is also a way of life that does not provide them with a very good income or the same sort of benefits most other occupations do these days.  In fact recent surveys have shown that many farmers now work for less than minimum wage.
Yes they can come across as a bit unfriendly sometimes but I think that if you were up at the crack of dawn after having spent half the night lambing and were having to deal with muppets on daily basis who don't seem to know how to close field gates or keep their dogs on a lead then I think you would probably be a wee bit grumpy as well.
This painting is a little nod to those hard working industrious fowk who are out there still working hard long after everyone else has left.

I offer worldwide shipping using tracked services from a range of carefully selected couriers.  If you are lucky enough to live here in the U.K and spend over £30 I'll also give you FREE delivery!

The original watercolour painting is approx 510mm x 360mm and is available either framed or unframed.

Want Your Purchase Framed?

So you have picked out the perfect image for your wall but you can’t just hang it on the wall with drawing pins can you?…No, so now you have to go and get it framed. Not only do you have to go to the hassle of finding a good framer who knows what they are doing but then you have to pick out a moulding you like and a mount to go with it. You need to pick something that is going to enhance the art but also look good in your space and then because you are only getting one frame you will pay through the nose for it!

Well here’s an idea…….

….Why not just have me frame it for you!…..FREE OF CHARGE!!

That’s right I offer a 100% FREE framing service where all you pay for is the cost of the frame itself – how cool is that?!

I use high quality light-ash wood frames that provide a neutral high quality finish that will enhance rather than detract from the artwork and will sit well in any room.  The frames are bare-faced which means if you don’t happen to like the colour of the natural wood in the frame you can change it to suit your taste with either stain, lime-wash, paint or varnish. As I purchase my frames in bulk and pass this discount on you won’t get a frame of this quality anywhere else at this price! It’s a no brainer really!

So if you have chosen an original and want it framed just choose the framed option in the options above. If you are purchasing a limited edition you can add a frame to your order by clicking the button below:
