Walking across the stepping stones in Dovedale is a memory that seems to be instilled in every Derbyshire kids memory in fact it's almost like a right of passage. You can't say your Derbyshire unless you have been across the stepping stones in Dovedale!
I am not from Derbyshire and didn't move there until my late twenties but one of my earliest holiday memories is of these stepping stones so like anyone that is Derbyshire born'n'bred they hold a special place in my heart.
However I also think it is important for people to appreciate the big picture which is why I decided to include the rest of the fantastic landscape that these special stones are set in for this painting.
