Piel Castle, also known as Fouldry Castle or the Pile of Fouldray, is a castle situated on the south-eastern point of Piel Island, off the coast of the Furness Peninsula in north-west England.
The island and the castle actually remind me a little of Kirrin Island from the Enid Blyton Famous Five books I used to read when I was younger (and still secretly read now and again just for the nostalgia).
I decided to paint this atmospheric little island in a Turneresque style this time and was quite pleased with the results. I think it turned out well - what do you think?
The original watercolour painting is 350mm x 250mm and is available either framed or unframed.
