First of all for these workshops you will need your eyes & ears I always encourage students to watch the workshop first and then have a go because I record most of these workshops in just one take so any mistakes or adjustments I may make to get to the final painting are included - this way you learn more.
More importantly though I always encourage students who are new to me to approach these workshops with an open mind!
While I always try to encourage students to use their own materials I know that some of you prefer to use the same as the tutor as it is one less thing to think about. Especially when you may be trying out some new techniques. So below you will find a complete list of the materials I used to produce the painting in this workshop:
1 x Sheet of Watercolour Paper (I used Bockingford 425gsm ROUGH 1/4 Imperial [38 x 28cm])
If you need to you can purchase paper directly from me here:
I use Daniel Smith extra fine watercolours as quite frankly they are in my opinion the best on the planet however I know that some of you may not have access to these so where appropriate I have included a substitute colour that may be more readily available to you.
Suggested Colours: Naples Yellow, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Carbazole Violet (sub’ Winsor or Dioxazine Violet), Paynes Grey, Indigo, Lavender, Green Apatite Genuine, Green Gold, Bloodstone
If you fancy getting yourself a few tubes of these fantastic watercolours you can find the colours I use here:
All of my brushes are made by Rosemary Brush Co who hand-make some of the finest brushes in the world. Below you will find a list of the ones I have used for this particular workshop.
